Weather warning: Somerset braced for thunderstorms and hail
Met Office issues yellow warning for heavy rain, thunder and lightning
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Somerset, as the county braces for thunderstorms and hail.
The warning is in place from 1pm to 9pm on Tuesday, August 16. The Met Office says there is a chance of flooding and travel disruption.
What to expect
The Met Office says there is a chance of:
- Heavy rain, with 20-30mm possible in an hour and a small chance of 50mm in three hours
- Thunder and lightning
- Hail
- Flooding of homes and businesses
- Travel disruption
The Met Office advises people to be prepared for the weather and to take care when travelling.
